Artist of the Week: Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion

Turns out “Hot Girl Summer” isn’t canceled after all. The one and only Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are joining forces for a brand new song, “Wap,” and it’s making its global debut today.

The summer single marks the first collaboration between the two superstars, and Cardi B’s first new track as a lead artist since 2019’s “Press” and 2018’s “Money.” Cardi riled up her fans earlier this week with a mysterious Twitter video teasing the song. The next day, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper made good on her promise, declaring on Instagram: “Single droppin this Friday! WAP feat. @theestallion,” along with an instantly iconic image of the duo sporting matching updos and “WAP” branded hoop earrings.

While “Wap” is Cardi’s first new release this year, Megan Thee Stallion has been no stranger to high-profile collaborations as of late. In April, she released the remix of “Savage” featuring Beyoncé, which achieved viral fame on Tiktok and skyrocketed up the charts to become her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Today’s Cardi collaboration also marks a big moment for Megan. It comes almost exactly a year since the release of “Hot Girl Summer”—a breakthrough hit that immortalized her viral, social media catchphrase.

Be the first to hear what could be the biggest song of the summer! “Wap” is now streaming on iHeartRadio.
