#NewMusicTuesday: “Everglow,” Coldplay

One of the most prolific bands of their generation, Coldplay has won a whopping 62 awards out of a total of 209 nominations, including nine Brit Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and seven Grammy Awards. Perhaps even more stunning, Coldplay has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making the group one of the best-selling music artists on the planet. But it’s not just about the accolades for this powerhouse group — Coldplay is actively involved in various social and political causes, including Oxfam, Global Citizen and Amnesty International.

We may know the group best for iconic hits, such as “Yellow,” “Clocks,” “Fix You,” and “Paradise,” but on their most-recent LP A Head Full of Dreams, Coldplay pushes their sonic boundaries to new melodic heights with the introspective tune, “Everglow.” The track was released late in 2016, in a newly-recorded stripped-down version inspired by lead vocalist Chris Martin’s unrehearsed solo performance of the song at the recent Glastonbury Festival. The result is one of Coldplay’s most heartfelt and intimate songs in years.

And after yet another solid year of music and touring, Coldplay is nominated for Duo / Group of the Year, Best Music Video (Hymn for the Weekend), and Alternative Rock Artist of the Year at 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards! Remember to grab your tickets to the awards show now, or tune into TBS, TNT, and truTV at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Sunday, March 5 to catch all of the action live. In the meantime, you can listen to all of your favorite Coldplay tracks on demand, right here, on iHeartRadio!
