iHeartRadio Pays Tribute on 9/11

The tragic attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 claimed the of lives over 3,000 people and continues to have a lasting impact on the lives of all Americans. Seventeen years later we observe the anniversary of 9/11 and we honor the lives of those we lost that day and the families they left behind.

In 2016, Congress named September 11 a day of observance – a day of unity, community service and kindness that better us as individuals and strengthens our communities. It is a small way to remember those lost by serving our community and others.

This year, iHeartRadio teamed up with two highly impactful organizations that were founded out of personal loss and tragedy: 9/11 Day of Service and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

In a special 30-minute radio show, Frank Siller, founder of Tunnel to Towers foundation, an organization dedicated to helping the first responders affected by 9/11 and their families; Jay Winuk and David Paine, co-founders of 9/11 Day of Service foundation, the nonprofit group that coordinates large volunteering events on 9/11 as a way to pay tribute, share their personal stories about 9/11 and explain the motivation behind founding these two organization that help millions of people across the United States.

For the seventh consecutive year, iHeartRadio has also run a series of radio PSAs across the country encouraging our listeners to get involved in the community, to volunteer at a locally organized 9/11 Day event or to perform a simple random act of kindness.
