#NewMusicTuesday: Troye Sivan, “My My My!”

If you can make it through Troye Sivan’s new hit “My My My!” without jumping up to dance, then you have some epic willpower! The track and music video are full of life and passion—much like the South-African born Australian artist performing them.

Sivan rose to fame through YouTube, where he has been singing for more than a decade. Now, two EPs and a debut studio album later, Sivan is back with a bold sound and newfound confidence. Not afraid to tackle personal topics in his songs and videos, he sings about same sex love and relationships in “My My My!” while dancing his heart out in an abandoned warehouse. The song is fun, catchy and free of any inhibitions, yet it’s also powerful and different than the narrative style of previous hits like “Youth,” from his album Blue Neighborhood.

This fan favorite already has a few awards to his name, winning an APRA Music Award for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year in 2017, and has been named one of Time magazine’s 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014 as well.
