Artist of the Week: Madonna
Pop legend Madonna returned to the charts last week with her fourteenth album, Madame X. With disco, reggaeton and even classical influences, this new project is unique, interesting and fun in a way only Madonna can be!
Madonna is an icon who knows how to keep her fans fascinated and Madame X is no exception. The album is actually named after her newly adopted alter ego, “Madame X.” In an album trailer that she posted to her Instagram, Madonna describes her Madame X persona as a “secret agent, traveling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom and bringing light to dark places.” Of course, fans are already obsessed with Madame X—the album and the alter ego—and all of the dance-floor scorchers that come with both!
Madonna pulled out all the stops and collaborators for Madame X. Colombian reggaeton singer Maluma duets with her on two of the album’s tracks, “Medellin” and “Bitch I’m Loca.” Rappers Quavo and Swae Lee are featured on the album, as is Brazilian pop singer Anitta on one of the album’s best dance tracks, “Faz Gostoso.” The album is also Madonna’s most linguistically diverse one to date and is sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Madonna will be appearing at the iHeartRadio ICONs show on Friday, June 21 in honor of the new album’s release. Or, if you want to catch your favorite pop queen in concert, the Madame X Tour is an all-theatre tour that will begin in September and travel through North American and Europe. In the meantime, keep listening to her amazing hits on iHeartRadio!
