“Finding Fred” Dives Into the Life and Lessons of American Television Legend, Fred Rogers

The iconic American children’s show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood has had a lasting cultural effect. Over the course of the show’s 33-year run, millions of children fell in love with Mister Rogers and his daily lessons on kindness and caring for one’s neighbor. Although the show’s audience was children, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was not a simple show. And Fred Rogers was not a simple man. He was radical, spiritual and, frankly, ahead of his time. Inspired by his incredible story and television program, “Finding Fred” is a new iHeartRadio Original Podcast, co-produced by Fatherly, about the life, work and thinking of Fred Rogers. The show’s trailer is available today, and the first episode of the show will arrive on Tuesday, October 22.

Carvell Wallace, a contributor for the New York Times Magazine, popular podcaster and best-selling author, hosts the show and explores the ways this decades-old children’s show can still be applied in today’s chaotic world. In this ten-part podcast series, Wallace adds historical context to several of Mister Rogers’ teachings. For example, the first episode focuses on money. Fred Rogers was born into a wealthy family at the beginning of the Great Depression and witnessed the divide between the rich and poor at a very early age. As a result, he encouraged his young viewers to use money for the good of all and worked to halt the widening wealth gap in America.

Check out the trailer for “Finding Fred” today on iHeartRadio and check back next week, October 22, to hear the first episode of this heart-warming podcast.
