Artist of the Week: Lizzo

There were a lot of great albums this year, but there was one that stood out as the most fun, original and inspiring: Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You, a debut album that’s filled with enough self-love anthems to get us through even the rainiest of days. From songs like “Cuz I Love You” to “Soulmate” there isn’t a moment on this record where fans get a chance to catch their breath (or a bad song).

Lizzo, a charismatic pop and R&B star, has spent much of the last decade as a struggling rapper and singer, but broke through this year with her bold, body-positive attitude and other hit songs like “Juice” and “Truth Hurts.”

And now the success and power of Cuz I Love You is officially proven to be unmatchable — at least by the music industry’s standards. For the upcoming 62nd annual Grammy Awards, Lizzo is the most nominated artist — with a total of eight award nominations — and is leading a class dominated by other fresh faces like Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X. One of her nominations include a nod to her #1 single, “Truth Hurts” as Song of the Year, and Cuz I Love You has been nominated for Album of the Year.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this pop legend, but we do suspect at least one Grammy award is headed her way. And if you’re trying to see Lizzo live before she gets off the road and back to the studio, head over to iHeartRadio and find tickets to the iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in Tampa this morning!
