Fans are calling Childish Gambino a genius after the release of his latest single, “This is America,” and we couldn’t agree more! A prolific writer, comedian and musician, Donald Glover already has a number of hit songs, shows and sketches to his name, but “This is America,” a track that masterfully combines trap and afrobeats to create a unique sound, is different. Glover, aka Childish Gambino, is making a bold statement with the song and the accompanying music video, making his stance on race and gun violence in the U.S. known.

The Grammy award winning Glover dropped the song in a surprise tweet earlier in May, sending fans into a tizzy—the artist hadn’t released any new music since his 2016 album Awaken, My Love! The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, and has maintained a steady presence on the chart ever since.
