iHeartRadio’s Interactive 2019 Year in Music Map Is Here!

It’s the end of 2019, and our music fans know what that means: it’s time for iHeartRadio’s Year in Music Map!

This interactive map was put together by iHeartRadio to show the day-by-day progression of top artists across the country throughout the year. And if you hit the ‘play’ button in the top left corner, you can see the trends change throughout 2019 all over the U.S. The map’s data is based on the total audience spins and streams across iHeartRadio stations nationwide and gives an overall snapshot of what America’s listening to—and not just those users using a digital streaming service.

This year, iHeartRadio’s top artist was Post Malone with more than 3.85 billion total audience spins and streams, but top artists across the country varied. In the American northeast, the top artists were Ariana Grande, Post Malone and Panic! At the Disco and in the southeast, Luke Combs was a top artist, too. Similarly, down near the state of Texas, Maroon 5 was a top artist as well. And interestingly, in the northwest section of the country, one of the top artists was Queen! We love to see a throwback band in the mix.

And in addition to the map, iHeartRadio collected the top 10 songs of the year and now we’ve got the answers to your burning questions: “Sucker” by the Jonas Brothers sat at No. 1 for the top songs of the year and “Talk” by Khalid was at No. 2. And we’ve got the top artists, too. After Post Malone, Ariana Grande was the most played artist in the U.S. this year!
